Power Electronics for Renewable Energy

The electronics inside renewable energy converters: the semiconductor switches, the converter circuits, the gate drivers and magnetics, and the losses, control and thermal design that decide whether a converter works. Explained from first principles with worked numbers.

For: engineers, students, technical professionals Prerequisite: basic circuits (Ohm's law, AC vs DC) In progress: chapters are published as they are written

How the tutorial is built

  • Electronics first. The focus is the converter itself: devices, circuits, magnetics, drivers and layout. Distribution and energy storage appear only as the context a converter works in.
  • Equations you can use. Each idea ends in a compact formula card and a worked example with real component values.
  • Design trade-offs. Efficiency, switching frequency, size, cost and reliability, because real designs balance all of them.
